You like gaming? You need a laptop because it has better computing power and can run better games. A laptop is better than an iPad because it has better computing power. An iPad has something called an “A Bionic Chip”. It processes everything from graphics to the OS. It’s also in phones. Compared with laptop chips like an Intel Core i7, it’s very weak.

 Intel Core i7’s are the most popular gaming laptop processors. It has 12 threads and 6 cores. In 2000, video games started to need more computing power. Laptop companies like Apple thought, hey, what if we put two CPUs in one laptop. They did that by making a motherboard that could hold two CPUs. Eventually, they stopped because adding more CPU sockets to the motherboard started taking up more space and eventually, the motherboard couldn’t fit in a laptop. People started to put two processors in one actual CPU. They took a CPU, and they made it smaller, then they took the smaller CPU, and put two smaller CPUs in one bigger CPU case. Smaller CPUs are what’s called cores. Threads are even smaller CPUs, there are usually two threads in one core. If a laptop has 12 threads, it means that the laptop can run 12 programs at the exact same time, instead of switching between programs faster than you can blink. You need multiple threads if you’re running a video game server, so a thread gets assigned to each player that connects to the server. If you switch back and forth, if there were only two players, that wouldn’t matter, but if the server got big and had like 120 players, it would have to switch between all 120 players and the game would get really laggy. The most threads in a CPU is 256. If you get something like 300 players on your server, even with a 256 thread CPU (which costs some $12000), you wouldn’t be able to assign a thread to each player. Servers like Wynncraft and Call of Duty: Black Ops III use that old strategy from 2000. You take like two 256 threader CPUs and put them in that customized motherboard, assign like 5 players to each thread, and you got a server that can handle 2 thousand players.

    Also, if you get a gaming laptop, you get really good Graphics, which is needed for running stuff like Red Dead Redemption II. The most powerful graphics card I’ve seen in a laptop is the NVIDIA RTX 3080, which is in my opinion, the 2nd best graphics card in the world. If you like gaming, go get a new laptop. (You can usually find a good one under $300)
